Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse

Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse is a 1996 video game and the second title in the Freddi Fish series, created and released by Humongous Entertainment. The next game in the series, Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell, came out in 1998. The game was later released on iOS in 2014 as Freddi Fish Haunted Schoolhouse Mystery, and on Android the same year with the shorter title Freddi Fish: Haunted Schoolhouse. It also arrived on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in May 2024.

The story begins when Freddi Fish meets Luther on the way to school; he brings his Codfish Commando action figure for show and tell. Inside the classroom, their teacher Mrs. Croaker tells them that a ghost has been stealing toys from the other students. The ghost appears, snatches Luther's figure, and flees. Freddi and Luther chase it into the school basement, where Luther gets his toy back and the ghost threatens revenge. Convinced the ghost is a fake, Freddi designs a Rube Goldberg trap to catch it, and the pair set out to find five more parts for the device. As they search, the sharks Boss and Spongehead (from the first game) try to scare them off with warnings. When the duo are one part short, the sharks meet the Squidfather, who never had toys as a child, and he orders them to bring him the guppies' toys. After collecting all five items, Freddi and Luther set the trap using Luther's action figure as bait. It works, revealing Boss and Spongehead in disguise. Luther decides to let the Squidfather keep the action figure, and he and Freddi return the other toys to the class, who celebrate their bravery.

The gameplay uses the same mechanics as the first Freddi Fish game, but with new puzzles, items, characters, locations, minigames, and clickable spots. The parts needed for the ghost trap are randomized each time a new game begins.

Freddi Fish 2 was shown at E3 1996. Because adult women often voice children of both genders in games, designer Tami Borowick—who had decided to make Freddi female during the first game's development—worried players might not realize Freddi is a girl. She added a line in this game to clarify Freddi's gender.

The game was generally well received. It earned a 3-star rating from Allgame, 9.5 out of 10 from Electric Playground, 5 Stars from PC Magazine, and a 7.5 out of 10 from Unikgamer. The Game Developer's Choice Awards named it "B
