Final Pajama Sam adventure, released alongside last Humongous point-and-click.
Pajama Sam: Life Is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff! (also called Pajama Sam 4) is a point-and-click adventure game from 2003. It was made by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. The story follows Pajama Sam as he travels into a world made of junk to find a missing comic book. This game is the fourth and last one in the Pajama Sam series. The previous game was *Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat from Your Head to Your Feet*, which came out in 2000.
The game came out for Microsoft Windows on August 19, 2003. That same day, *Putt-Putt: Pep's Birthday Surprise* also launched. These two games were the last point-and-click titles from Humongous Entertainment. They were also the only Humongous adventure games not made with the SCUMM engine. Instead, they used Atari's own YAGA engine.
Critics gave the game positive reviews when it came out, but many said it was not as good as earlier Pajama Sam games.

Sam is watching TV when a news report says Pajama Man will be signing autographs at the local shopping mall. His mother agrees to take him, so Sam looks for his first Pajama Man comic book to get it signed. But the comic is stolen from a pile of dirty laundry. After finding his cape, Sam jumps into the pile and lands in a world full of junk.
There, Sam meets a dirty sock. The sock was kicked out of its drawer and separated from its matching pair because it was so filthy. The sock tells Sam that the thief plans to take the comic to the Grubby Corners Mall to get it signed by Dr. Grime, Pajama Man's unclean arch enemy. Sam is horrified. He finds clothes to meet the mall's dress code and goes inside to search for his comic.
Inside the mall, a group of children mistakes Sam for Dr. Grime. Sam hides in Grime's dressing room and finds his comic book there. But he realizes he is covered in dirt. To get clean, he uses the heat from a cup of hot cocoa to set off a sprinkler, flooding the mall. After that, Sam says he still plans to get his comic signed by Pajama Man. The credits roll over a photo of Sam standing with Pajama Man.

Reader's Guide
Pajama Sam: Life Is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff! is significant as the final entry in the Pajama Sam series and one of Humongous Entertainment's last point-and-click adventure games. Released alongside Putt-Putt: Pep's Birthday Surprise on August 19, 2003, both games marked the end of an era for the developer, as they were the only Humongous adventure games not produced in the SCUMM engine, instead using Atari's in-house YAGA engine. This engine choice also prevented the game from being ported to non-Windows platforms, as ScummVM does not support YAGA. The game received positive reviews from critics, though many noted it as a step down from previous titles. USA Today described it as worse and less polished than its predecessors, while the Associated Press criticized the execution. It received the Silver Honor award from the Parents' Choice Awards. The soundtrack, composed by Nathan Rosenberg, featured over 45 minutes of Latin-inspired music using real instruments, delivered under budget. The game was re-released on Steam on May 29, 2014.
