Pajama Sam
A point-and-click adventure series for children.
The Pajama Sam series is a set of point-and-click adventure and puzzle games for children, originally developed by Humongous Entertainment. The protagonist is a young boy who, under his Pajama Sam identity, ventures into fantasy worlds by going through dark spots in his home to resolve various problems. Pamela Adlon provides the voice for the main character in every main game and the first spin-off; she did not voice Sam only in the second spin-off.
Each game follows a similar structure: an opening where Sam starts in a room of his house, a transition into an imaginary world through a dark space, the main journey through that world, and a closing cinematic. Within the imaginary world, players navigate between screens using point-and-click controls to interact with the environment. Areas contain useful items and non-playable characters to collect or engage with, along with clickpoints that trigger animations, sometimes featuring cameos from other Humongous Entertainment characters. Certain items or areas are blocked by obstacles that require finding and using another item to proceed. The obstacles Sam encounters and the methods to reach the main goal are randomly determined at the start of each playthrough, and progress can be saved and resumed later. Each game also includes hidden optional collectible items, with a special reward for finding them all.
In the first game, players had no control over which scenarios appeared in a given playthrough. The sequel allowed players to choose from several scenario combinations, and the third game gave complete control over the types of scenarios encountered at each step toward resolving the main conflict.
Only Pajama Sam 2 was ported to the original PlayStation; the third title was not. More than a decade after the series began, the first game was ported to the Wii, but its availability was limited due to a legal dispute during development. In the 2010s, the first three games were ported to iOS and Android as paid apps.
On Steam, the games are sold individually, as part of the "Pajama Sam Complete Pack," or within the "Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack." They are also available DRM-free on GOG.com as Pajama Sam volumes 1 and 2, running on SCUMMVM for Windows, OS X, and Linux.
Infogrames released a CD titled "Freddi Fish / Pajama Sam Value 2-Pack," containing *Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds*

Lore & Background
Each game in the Pajama Sam series consists of an introductory phase where Sam begins in his house, enters an imaginary world through a dark space, undertakes a journey, and concludes with a cinematic. While in the imaginary world, the player moves from screen to screen, interacts with the environment, collects items, and talks to non-playable characters. Some areas feature clickpoints that play animations with crossover cameos of other Humongous Entertainment characters. Obstacles are overcome by finding and using items, and the scenarios are determined at random at the start of each playthrough. Playthroughs can be saved and continued later. Hidden optional collectibles are scattered throughout each game, with a special reward for finding them all.
